The Luscious Layers Apron

Well, the children are back in school and I'm back to work.  It was so fun having them home for the summer, but it's nice to be able to dedicate some time to sewing again.

This new apron pattern, the "Luscious Layers" is so flirty and fun, you may want to wear it all day long.  You can choose your skirt style to have one, two, or three layers, and the bib style can either be a sweetheart neckline or a square neckline.  Of course it features waist ties that can either be tied in a back bow, a front knot, or a front bow and the neckties are fully-adjustable so the apron will fit the way you want it to.

This pattern will be priced at $8, but for the first week of release (until 09/11/2012) it's $5. It can be purchased as an instant download or you can buy it from my etsy shop (and wait for me to email you the pattern.)

You can also enter to win this apron pattern. There are two ways to enter:

1. Leave a comment here letting me know you like the pattern.

2. Go to my facebook page and "like". If you're already a facebook follower simply like the post announcing the new pattern. Then come back here and leave a comment letting me know you "liked" on facebook.

That's it. The giveaway is closed on 09/11/12 and the winner will be announced here and on facebook on September 12, 2012.

(If you buy the pattern on sale but end up winning the giveaway, you can pick any other apron pattern that you'd like). Good luck!

(......Also, if you want to see the one layer version or the back, head on over to the etsy shop to take a peek.  For some reason I'm having issues posting photos here today......)

New Pattern - The Options Apron

The newest MVD pattern is called the "Options Apron" because it contains all of the pattern pieces and measurements that you will need to make a variety of aprons. With 6 different neckband options (2 sweetheart styles, 2 rounded styles, a square style, and a chevron style), 4 different pocket band options, and 3 different hem options (basic hem, ruffle, and band), you're sure to make an apron that reflects your style.

It features waist ties that can either be tied in a back bow, a front knot, or a front bow. The neckties are fully-adjustable so the apron will fit the way you want it to.

This pattern will be priced at $8, but for the first week of release (until 06/20/2012) it's $5. It can be purchased as an instant download here or you can buy it from my etsy shop (and wait for me to email you the pattern.)

That's it. The winner will be announced here and on facebook on June 18, 2012.

(If you buy the pattern on sale but end up winning the giveaway, you can pick any other apron pattern that you'd like). Good luck!

And check back often.  I have 2 more patterns that are almost ready for release, and I'll be doing promotions for them too!

The Sweetie Pie Apron

This was such a fun little sweetheart apron to make.  Originally, I wanted to be able to make it out of a single yard of fabric.  I fiddled and fudged with the pattern and the fabric until successs was achieved - mission accomplished!  The one drawback was, the neckties turned out a tad short.  Not a problem for me since I'm a bit short waisted...but it could be a problem for those that are not.  So, the pattern includes two different cutting layouts, just in case you want the longer ties.  Short ties = 1 yard of fabric, longer ties = 1 1/8 yards.

The apron can either be made with your standard-find-it-almost-anywhere-basic-extra-wide-double-fold-bias-tape (the black apron).  OR, you can make it fancy with some specialty pleated bias trim (the red apron - I found the trim at Hobby Lobby).  The bias tape apron was the easier of the two.

This pattern will be priced at $8, but for the first week of release (until 02/13/2012) it's $5.  It can be purchased as an  instant download here or you can buy it from my etsy shop (and wait for me to email you the pattern.)

Enter to win this apron pattern. Go to my facebook page and "like". If you're already a facebook follower (or if you don't do facebook) just leave a comment letting me know you'd like the pattern.  That's it.  The winner will be announced here and on facebook on February 16, 2012.

(If you buy the pattern on sale but end up winning the giveaway, you can pick any other apron pattern that you'd like).  Good luck!

Welcome 2012

As I sat down to create some new goals for the year, one word continued to whisper to my heart....simplify, simplify, simplify!  I felt like I was at a cross-roads of sorts.  Should I keep doing what I've been doing, or should I refocus my efforts on what I love to do and take that leap of faith?

Well, after much pondering and prayer, I've decided to take the leap.  Up until now, I've focused MVD (Modern Vintage Designs) on creating aprons AND apron patterns.  As a designer, I didn't want to allow others to sell their creations from my patterns, because I didn't want to create competition for myself.  But now, now that I've decided to dedicate my business to creating patterns, I've decided it makes sense to allow others to make and sell items created from MVD patterns. (You can find the terms and conditions here.)

I'm excited to see what this year brings!
